That can mean anything from designing sportsbook platforms to building tools for affiliates and operators. The common thread is scale. “Think of major sportsbooks on match day. Huge volumes of users, huge volumes of transactions. Everything we build has to be fast, reliable and built for growth.”
Why Industry Knowledge Matters
Jack believes what makes The Unit different is not just the ability to write good code, but the ability to understand the betting and gaming space inside out.
“A lot of companies can write code. What is different here is we understand the space, so clients are not starting from zero every time,” he explains. “I work closely with clients to define what we are building and why, then help the team turn that into clear priorities and usable features.”
It is this industry knowledge that allows The Unit to cut through complexity and deliver products that solve real operational challenges.

For Jack, the highlight of the role is not just the technology, but the team that builds it.
“The best part of the job? It is the people. Not just here in Dundalk, but across our whole team, especially in Moldova. Everyone genuinely cares about what we are building and how we get there. It is not just about ticking off a backlog.”
That sense of shared ownership and care means the work is not only delivered, but delivered with purpose.

What makes the work rewarding is the moment when an idea becomes something people can use.
“It is rewarding to see something you have helped shape go live, knowing it is not just functional, but meaningful for the people using it. You get to see the impact and know you have had a hand in making it happen.”
